As the Association gives thanks and celebrates our 76th Anniversary, we look excitedly ahead to further our key pillar programmes and initiatives for positive community and social transformation. Since its beginnings, the organisation has been actively engaging in community and youth outreach work, being ambassadors of hope and goodwill to the vulnerable, needy and the lonely. Especially against the backdrop of dislocation, grief and despair, MYMCA remains committed in its work to be a differentiating factor as ambassadors of goodwill – serving families and the community to strengthen the fabric of the nation during these difficult times.
But we cannot do this alone.
It is through the generous giving and support of our donors, sponsors, partners and volunteers that allows us to bring our various programmes to life, to serve the community. Our various fundraising events not only help us achieve our goals, but also seeds greater awareness and interest among youth and the public about pressing social issues – while championing the spirit of volunteerism and giving back to the community.
We are therefore pleased to announce our very first fund raising event this year: Bike-a-thon at the Y 2022!
We need your support!
Bike-a-thon 2022 aims to raise $50,000 and is eligible for a dollar to dollar matching under the ToteBoard Enhanced Fundraising Grant. As with every fundraising event, every donation counts as every dollar is channeled to drive MYMCA’s community and youth programmes. Every year, an estimated $500,000 is needed to enable us to deliver impactful initiatives that are meaningful, relevant and effective.
Our successful outreach programmes such as M.Y Manna, M.Y. HomeShine continues to transform and touch many lives due to the generosity and strong support from our donors and partners. Our Youth Leadership Development programmes have made great strides and expanded its reach as well – thanks to our various dedicated partners who have invested with us to nurture youth and their spirit of social responsibility through mentorship training and positive mental and physical wellness education.
Our M.Y Mentoring and M.Y Mindspace programmes are two examples of programmes that have grown and expanded its impact as a result from this partnership to future-proof our next generation (please see Annex A: More About MYMCA’s Outreach Programmes).
We want to go further and do more. This year’s Bike-A-Thon will enable MYMCA to set the stage for exciting new opportunities for us – and you, to ‘pay it forward’. Above all, every ride and dollar advances MYMCA’s mission of nurturing and equipping our young to serve the community with a generous and caring spirit.
