10 Types of Singapore Runners You Will Meet at a Race

1. The Selfie Runners
Ready... get set... but first, #letmetakeaselfie! You will quite possibly find a stop-motion documentary of the Selfie Runner in every appropriate filter because every step is #instaworthy. Run. Selfie. Repeat. Watch out for the selfie sticks!

Finish time: 1hr 30mins

2. The All-About-My-Gear Runners
They are characterised by their revolutionary sports gear and attention to digital devices. They are always online. After run rituals include synchronising FitBit records into a progression chart.

Finish time: 45mins

3. The Running-Is-My-Therapy Runners
They have a dedicated gym playlist to tune out the world. Once they pump-up the jams, "all (they) do is win, win, win, no matter what."

Finish time: 30mins

4. The Darling Duo
Matching shirts? Checked. Color coded pants? Checked. Synchronised footwork? Of course! Instead of the starting pistol, it's a starting smooch. They make any marathon look enjoyable. Who needs couple therapy when we can have this together? #togetherforever

Finish time: 45 minutes

5. The Entourage
They never break formation. The Entourage punctuates every step with a cheer for their fellow runners and can often be found running within speed limit. When route-hogging takes place, do not attempt to overtake dangerously.

Finish time: 1hr

6. The Chiongsters
Matching shirts? Checked. Color coded pants? Checked. Synchronised footwork? Of course! Instead of the starting pistol, it's a starting smooch. They make any marathon look enjoyable. Who needs couple therapy when we can have this together? #togetherforever

Finish time: 20mins. (It's only warm-up.)

7. The Pain Pouters
While other runners are starting out on their personal mission to hone and tone, the Pain Pouters are aiming to gripe within the first 5 minutes. They are very vocal about their sentiments and are likely to rant on most things even if they like it.

Finish time: 1hr

8. The Kiam Siap
Nothing gets their adrenaline running like a stomp pit through the crowd for the goodie-bags. #missionacomplished Race day? What race?

Finish time: 1hr

9. The Underdogs
They are a minimum of 65, usually pushing 80. But don't let their appearance fool you. They may start at a steady pace but are swift to the finishing line.

Finish time: 30mins

10. The Primped Princesses
These runners go by the motto, "If you have it, flaunt it." They are never caught wearing the same ensemble twice and are perfectly manicured from head to toe. They certainly will not so much as step into a puddle. Eww... #laytheredcarpet #please

Finish time: 1hr 30mins
