Combining volunteers and instructors from all 3 schools, the training was attended by 20 mentors, 5 instructors and 5 staff. The objectives of the session included orientating respective instructors with mentors attached to the various schools, clarifying roles of each stakeholder, and equipping mentors with classroom management skills through a simulation led by the instructors.
One of the key highlights include having YLD’s Curriculum Specialist, Ms Joyce Quek orientate the mentors to the evaluation tools in measurement of the effectiveness of the programme and mentor-mentee relationship. The instructors also took lead and ownership of their role by taking initiative to warm up the mentors, being proactive to bond and motivate the mentors and sharing their experiences to enhance the debrief session.
